Meeting Minutes for Waldo County

Democratic Committee

Meeting called to order at 7:17 p.m. on February 1st, 2008

1. Roll Call: 24 total attended, 18 members, 6 guests

[Belfast 6] –Charlotte Herbold, Hal Halliday, Larry Litchfield, Miles Gray, Neal Harkness, Percy Daley [Frankfort 1] Diana Weddell [Lincolnville 1] Betty Johnson [Monroe 1] Barbara Moran [Northport 1] Peter Dalton [Stockton Springs 6] Faith Campbell, Jo Greenier, Michele Greenier, Richard Burk, Roland Magnan, Veronica Magnan [Troy 2] Laura Donnelly, Norma Rossel [Guests 6] Mary Elizabeth Greenier, Nathan Libby, Joanne Crowley, Seth Yentes, Diane Messer, Monique Theberge

2. Adjustments to & Adoption of the Agenda

  • Motion to accept agenda by Percy, 2nd by Larry, MOTION PASSED

3. Approval of January 2008 Meeting Minutes:

  • Motion by Larry to accept, 2nd by Barbara, MOTION PASSED

4. Chair Report: By Chair, Neal Harkness

  • Neal spoke for a few minutes thanking folks for showing up on this snowy evening

5. Treasurer's Report: By Betty Johnson

  • The annual report was distributed to the assembled membership and discussed
  • Motion by Miles to accept, 2nd by Hal, MOTION PASSED

6. Finance Committee Report: By Roland Magnan

  • Roland spoke a few minutes and thanked the committee for their efforts
  • Charlotte spoke about the silent action
  • Betty passed out a handout per the March to Victory dinner and spoke for a few minutes

7. Field Director Report: by Nathan Libbry

  • Nathan spoke about how the presidential elections were going across the nation and here in Maine
  • Nathan spoke specifically about the caucus, caucus conveners, & absentee ballots
  • Nathan also spoke about the precinct leader program in the pass and for later this year

  • Seth spoke for a few minutes about his district 42 campaign
  • Hal spoke for a few minutes about his district 43 campaign
  • Veronica spoke for a few minutes about her district 41 campaign
  • Laura spoke for a few minutes about her selectman campaign
  • Jo spoke for a few minutes about his district 23 campaign
  • Diane spoke for a few minutes about her district 23 campaign
  • Betty spoke for a few minutes on behalf of Andy O’brien for district 44
  • Joanne spoke for a few minutes. She is not running after 25 years. Her republican deputy is running.

10. Elections

  • Election for Vice Chair
  • - Barbara nominated by Neal, Veronica 2nd, no other nominations
  • - Barbara elected Vice Chair
  • Election for Research and Information Committee Chair
  • - tabled due to no nominations

11. Unfinished business

  • Headquarters Search: by Miles
  • - no results at this time
  • Caucus report and Q&A: by Betty
  • - Conveners meeting prior to this meeting at 6pm
  • - Betty says to ask people for help and they will give it
  • - Fill in delegate spots first, then fill in alternate delegate positions
  • Discussion ensued

12. The next meeting is March 7th at St. Margarets, again

13. Motion to Adjourn at 8:28pm by Larry and 2nd by Neal, meeting adjourned
